Our Story

It all started as a way to pay for University tuition in the 1980's by helping to run a local Lingerie store in Vancouver, Canada. The spark was re-ignited later by making lingerie for the Singapore Expatriate community in the 1990's - all styled on the Art Deco period. Customers came from all over the world, from stay at home Mums (& Dads!), who want just one special thing to wear, all the way to un-named Royal Families. Being comfortable is clearly universal.

It’s why our robes even have our original brand name stitched in: 'Not So Strait-laced Lingerie'. I've been making sleepwear every since. Australian made. Each vintage blanket is carefully washed and sterilised with Eucalyptus oil & wool wash, several times. Cotton and linen robe materials usually come from ‘designer’ lot ends. Some robes are used as a catalyst for slowing down plonked on a couch, or as a crook in the arm to bring in tonight’s firewood. Customers from urban Copenhagen, the mountains of Montana, USA, to the southern most tip of New Zealand!

Proudly made in Melbourne, Australia, each dressing robe is unique, “jigsawing” multiple blankets/ fabrics, with cutting, hand stitching and sewing taking over 18 hours. No two are the same! (Got a question ... just send me an email from the "Contact Us" page.

With great encouragement from my wonderful customers, I now have linen and cotton robes for the autumn, spring and summer months. 100% linen or 100% cotton or a mixture to give you that soft luxurious feeling. Pamper yourself or someone you love!

Repurposed, Recycled, Ecological, Hygenic & Anti-allergy. Best of all, handmade for you.
