Grey Italian Wool Mens Robe (Large only)
Sometimes you are lucky and I was with one of my wool spotters from way back. I rang her out of the blue to ask whether she had any wool and she told me she is sitting in a wearhouse full of vintage Italian wool rescued from sealed factories in Italy from the 1940's to the 1960's. I went a bit nuts. This was one of the amazing fabrics that I was able to get.
It is 100% wool from Italy. I believe this particular one is from the 1960's. It has a tight (dense) weave and is very warm (according to the model). It is completely lined in 100% cotton in a bluish grey with snails. Yes, snails. Check out the last two pics.
The wool itself is a greyish blue stripe alternating with a cream stripe. The stripes themselves are in a twisted rope pattern which gives the wool a very soft tone, not so solid in colour. Every few stripes is a fine black double stripe and orange checked pattern measuring about 5cm x 5cm or 2" x 2" .
Photographed here with the cuffs turned up (remember the lining is the snail fabric). They can also be worn folded down if needed.
All buttons are hand dyed vintage buttons from the 1940's-50's.
They are all limited edition and bespoke pieces.
Proudly 100% Australian made.

*The robe is fully lined in 100% cotton fabric.
*Even the back of the neck is lined so the wool does not touch your skin.
*There are two hidden pockets in the side seams.
*In the photographs, the cuffs are turned up to expose the lining but can easily be folded down.
*The sleeve hems and bottom hem are both hand sewn so that if you need to alter the length of either, this can be done very easily if you are handy, or by your alterationist.
*The entire length of the front edges of the robe and around the collar is top stitched by hand, similar to a mens hand made suit, so that the collar edges do not roll and always lay flat.
PLEASE NOTE: For Small/ Medium & Large sizes, please allow an additional 2 weeks before ready for delivery. XXL HAS A BLUE TONE - please refer to swatch picture (it came from a slightly different dye lot - the pattern & lining are exactly the same. Such was the case last century!
