Sea Green Wool/Cashmere Dressing Gown/Robe, size Small

A$580.00

This is the first of a whole size range in this glorious dressing gown. It is dark green with a touch of blue in the mix. It’s not teal, but kind of like the dark green seaweed on your sushi. It’s on the heavy side of medium weight and is 70% wool and 30% cashmere. There is a nap, which means the outside is fluffy and you want to stroke it all the time. It is an ex-designer fabric but I do not know its origin.

It was very hard to photograph because of the colour. The colour of the second photo, the full gown is true. One pic is a bit too overexposed and looks grey. It is really a vivid deep green.

Where possible for the lining, I use vintage bed sheets if I can find them, otherwise I use 100% natural fibre fabrics which have been reclaimed, such as factory overruns or from unused lengths of fabrics recycled from someone else's stash. This lining is an vintage Italian cotton lining from the 1980’s. I purchased years ago in Melbourne from a supplier who supplied the shirt making industry here, when we still had one.

It will be available in all sizes. I am cutting the rest of the range now. If you would like a different size, please email me: robeology@gmail.com

This is a dry clean only fabric. Sorry, no hand washing on this one.

The Details:

*All buttons are vintage buttons from the 1940's-70's.

*This particular fabric is a Designer over run, origin unknown, in 70% wool and 30% cashmere.

*The lining of the gown is made from a coordinating striped and floral vintage Italian 100% cotton which was purchased from a Melbourne company that purchases excess fabric from manufacturers to save them from landfill.

*The wool fabric for this robe is on the heavier side of medium weight, similar to the weight of a coat. It is nice and cozy.

*The small robe is a Australian size 8-10 which is slightly smaller than US sizing and slightly larger than UK sizing.

*Even the back of the neck is lined so the wool does not touch your skin.

‍*There are two hidden pockets in the side seams, double layered for strength..

*In the photographs, the cuffs are turned up to expose the lining but can easily be folded down.

*The sleeve hems and bottom hem are both hand sewn so that if you need to alter the length of either, this can be done very easily if you are handy, or by your alterationist.

*The entire length of the front edges of the robe and around the collar is hand stitched as a man’s suit, to stop the collar from rolling.

*Measurements: Please refer to the measurement table for this garment. The measurements are of the garment, not of the person wearing it. The garment is laid flat on a table and the front sections are overplayed by 15cm or 6”. Then the measurements are taken.

If you are confused have trouble with the sizing or are purchasing for someone else, please email me and I will help you. robeology@gmail.com
